Storage Software
Self Storage Software Built For UK Operators
Trust Your Move is self storage software that takes bookings online, bills customers on schedule, keeps UK VAT records and tracks every unit across your warehouses. You see what is let, what is free and who owes you money.
Who Trust Your Move Is For
A single yard with a few dozen units, or several warehouses with hundreds. You choose Self-storage when you sign up and the menus show only what a storage firm uses. Starter covers up to 100 units in one warehouse. Pro covers up to 1,000 units across 5 warehouses.
If you also move people house to house, the same account runs removals. Both share one client record and one invoice run, and a removal job can be linked to a customer's storage booking. See How The Removals Side Works.
What Your Storage Business Gets
Online Booking With Live Availability
Customers pick a storage type on your branded page, see what is free and book. The unit is held while they pay, so two people cannot take the same one. Set each storage type to pay in full, pay a deposit or pay by subscription.
Units, Warehouses And Movements
Each unit has a size, a storage type, a warehouse and one of seven statuses, and every change is logged. Goods in, goods out and transfers between warehouses are recorded per unit, and a cleaning queue sends a unit back to available once it is done.
Recurring Billing And UK VAT Invoices
Bill monthly, weekly or on a custom interval. Rate changes on a recurring booking can be pro-rated, with an adjustment invoice or a credit note. VAT is worked out per line, and invoices come as PDFs you can email.
Payments Into Your Own Accounts
Connect Stripe, GoCardless, PayPal, Square or SumUp. Stripe and GoCardless handle recurring payments and direct debit; the other three take one-off payments. Staff can also record bank transfer, cash and card terminal payments.
Access Codes, Keys And Fobs
Record a code, key or fob against each booking with valid-from and valid-to dates. Codes are stored encrypted, revealing one is an audited action, and access details are for staff only: they are never emailed to customers.
Abandoned-Goods Notices
Tools to run the Torts Act process for unpaid storage, with a recorded trail for every case and notice. First, final and sale notices are produced as PDFs. See the section below for what this does and does not do.
A Portal For Your Customers
Customers sign in to see their bookings, invoices and statements, pay online, request retrieval, delivery or viewing appointments and read their notifications. They can also ask for their data from the portal privacy page.
Occupancy And Revenue Reports
See occupancy by month, the mix of unit statuses, and breakdowns by warehouse and by storage type. The revenue report shows outstanding balances. Reports export to CSV, and a VAT report shows outputs by rate for any period.
Chasing Unpaid Storage
When an invoice goes overdue, Trust Your Move retries or reminds on the days you set, up to ten of them. Stripe-generated invoices are retried through the gateway. Other invoices get a payment reminder email. After the number of failed attempts you choose, the booking is marked payment overdue.
Customers can also be sent a statement of account as a PDF by email.
The Abandoned-Goods Process
If reminders fail, Trust Your Move gives you tools to run the Torts Act process with a recorded trail. It is built around the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.
- Cases move from open through notices to disposal, auction or resolved.
- A notice counts only once the tracking number and posting date are recorded, and the notice of intention to sell must go by recorded delivery or registered post.
- An email is never the legal notice. It is a courtesy copy only.
- The earliest sale date cannot be set less than 92 days (three calendar months) after service.
- Evidence is held for six years after a case ends.
This is not legal advice and Trust Your Move never files court claims. The notice wording has not had a solicitor review, so take your own advice before you sell anyone's goods.
Insurance And Your Accounts
You write your own insurance wording. The default says goods are stored at the owner's risk unless separate insurance is arranged. Customers must acknowledge it before they pay. This is a recorded disclosure; Trust Your Move does not sell insurance.
For your accountant, export invoices and payments as CSV for any date range, ready for Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or a spreadsheet. The VAT report also gives a CSV sales ledger and an MTD JSON file. Trust Your Move can also prepare the nine-box VAT return; direct submission to HMRC is rolling out, subject to HMRC approval and your accountant's review.

Storage Software Questions
Who is this self storage software for?
It is for UK self storage operators, from a single yard to several warehouses. It handles bookings, units, billing and customer access. If you also run removals, Trust Your Move covers that too, on the same client record and invoice run.
Does Trust Your Move charge a fee on each booking?
No. Trust Your Move charges only the monthly plan. Stripe and the other payment providers charge their own fees on payments your customers make, under your own account with them.
Can Trust Your Move send my VAT return to HMRC?
Trust Your Move keeps digital VAT records and can prepare the nine-box VAT return from them, with CSV and MTD JSON exports for your accountant or bridging software. Direct submission to HMRC is rolling out: it depends on HMRC approving the software and on you connecting your own HMRC account, and your accountant should review any return before it is filed. Income Tax quarterly updates are being prepared, but HMRC is not currently issuing production access for new quarterly-update software for 2026-27. The Xero, QuickBooks and Sage routes are CSV files, not live connections.
Is the abandoned-goods process legal advice?
No. It helps you follow the process set out in the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 and keeps a record of each step. The sale notice must go by recorded delivery or registered post, an email is only a courtesy copy, and the earliest sale date is at least three calendar months after service. The wording has not had a solicitor review, so take your own advice.
Do customers get the unit access code by email?
No. Access codes, keys and fobs are for staff only. They are not emailed to customers or shown in the portal.
